Tanzania Safari & Zanzibar
Our Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar tour is planned for travelers. Arusha will be the first contact with local life, but we won’t stay long in the city, as the next day we will go on a safari in the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park is located on the border between Kenya and Tanzania, covering an area of 14,763 km². On the vast plains, we will see zebras, gnus, and gazelles. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs are permanent residents of this savannah. The park is also home to the famous annual migration of gnus, making it one of the most magnificent parks in Africa.
On the way to the next national park, we will visit a village where the Maasai live. The Maasai are a nomadic and pastoral people. You will learn about their culture and customs. You will also see warrior representatives, who are the most valued and respected members of the Maasai community. In the evening, we will arrive on the outskirts of the Ngorongoro Crater and spend the night in a camp.
The next day, we will go on a full-day drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the eighth natural wonder of the world and a world-famous caldera. We will descend to the bottom of the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater’s green plains are home to buffalo, black rhinos, and a significant number of predators. In comfortable vehicles with open roofs, we will descend into the crater, where you will enjoy incredible views, and if you are lucky, you might see the “big five.” The caldera is home to more than 120 species of mammals. We will also visit salt lakes, which are a magnet for flamingos and other water birds. We will see pools full of hippos, endangered black rhinos, white storks that come from Europe during the rainy season, cranes, and ostriches. This is truly a land of eternal beauty. Another attraction of this park is the high density of predators, such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards, which can sometimes be very difficult to spot. We will have lunch in a designated area, close to the action and the wildlife.
We will then move to Lake Eyasi. Eyasi is a picturesque lake on the outskirts of the Ngorongoro Crater. In the evening, we will have a real African experience, with a sunset and a barbecue dinner by the lake. Eyasi is a less touristy lake, around which more than ten different tribes live. The most interesting among them are certainly the Datoga, who are farmers and herders, and of course the Hadzabe, one of the last tribes in the world that still maintains the tradition of hunting and gathering. In the evening, we return to Arusha. The next day is reserved for shopping at the local market and, if desired, a visit to the Meserani Snake and Reptile Park.
A short domestic flight to Zanzibar follows. We will spend the first night in the fascinating capital city, Stone Town, which immediately reveals its rich blend of cultures—Arab, Indian, and African—through its architecture and the scent of spices. The arrival of various cultures is a result of Zanzibar’s historical status as an important trading hub for spices and, unfortunately, for slaves. In the city, we will visit the market, the house of the famous Freddie Mercury, and the famous open-air evening kitchen by the coast. If desired, we can visit Prison Island to see giant tortoises (a 20-minute boat ride) and go on a “spice tour” to learn how spices are cultivated. In Zanzibar, you will often hear “Hakuna Matata” (No worries) and “Pole, pole” (Slowly, slowly). This is surely a remedy for anyone looking to escape the frantic pace of life.
Next, we move to the northeast, to the Kendwa area. Kendwa Beach is the perfect choice for relaxation, as it is one of the few beaches where the tide changes are not as extreme (unlike many other beaches in Zanzibar, which can have differences of up to 500 meters). In the evening, you will enjoy stunning sunsets and can join the locals for a soccer game on the beach. The beach also offers some natural shade.
We recommend this trip to those who desire an adventurous, travel-focused, and free-spirited way of discovering the world. It is also suitable for families with children. For the detailed daily itinerary, please contact us info@char-potovanje.com.

Our Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar tour is truly superb. We go on the best safari in Africa. For a low price, you get the most (a good camp with set-up tents, excellent food – full board, local guides with extensive knowledge…). In Zanzibar, we relax, chill out on the beach, watch sunsets, ride bicycles from beach to beach… In short, our Tanzania tour offers something for everyone.
About Tanzania and Zanzibar
Tanzania is a coastal country in East Africa. It was formed by the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964. The northeast is mountainous and densely forested, with Mount Kilimanjaro being the highest point on the African continent – 5,895 meters above sea level. Three of Africa’s great lakes are at least partially located in Tanzania: Lake Victoria, which is the largest African lake; Lake Tanganyika, which is the deepest lake on the continent, also known for its unique fish species; and In Lake Nyasa, the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa. Central Tanzania is a large plateau with plains and fertile soil. The eastern coast is hot and humid. In addition to the highest point of Africa, Tanzania also has the lowest point: the bottom of Lake Tanganyika, which is 352 meters below sea level.
Visa and Vaccinations
Visas can be arranged at the airport. Payment is made in cash, in US dollars (50$). Your passport must be valid for at least six months more when entering the country.
Malaria: Tanzania is officially an area of malaria. The places we visit are only conditionally risky. Important is the prevention – stronger mosquito repellents (DEET between 30% and 50%, or more than 20% Picaridin), long clothing and closed footwear. Malaria tablets (antimalarials) are not mandatory and may have side effects, so it is essential to consult your doctor before using them.
Yellow Fever: Vaccination is only mandatory for travelers coming to Tanzania from endemic areas (which does not include Europe).
Other vaccinations are not mandatory.
You can read about the necessary vaccinations for visiting Tanzania here: www.zdravinapot.si
Group and the tour leader
The group is large between 12 and 24 travelers and is guided by Gregor, Pero, Borut, or Zoran. For the entire Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar tour, you need 15 days. Before traveling, we have a meeting which is mandatory for everyone to avoid issues and lack of information.

In hrana. So naju strašili, da bova lačna, ker hrana ni najboljša. Pa so skoraj vse žitne ploščice prišle nazaj z nama v Slovenijo. Dobre kuharje smo imeli.
Brez pripomb.
- Koliko denarja si približno dodatno porabil/-a v Tanzaniji? Za celo potovanje ( agencija, testiranja, viza, osebna poraba) sva na osebo porabila cca 2.750 EUR. Res je, da nisva kupovala slik in lesenih izdelkov, a sva šla na vse izlete, si privoščila kako pivo, koktejle, odlične ribe, kupila začimbe, majhne spominke.
Pozdravljeni

Lep pozdrav,
Marta
