Vietnam is a land of stunning natural beauty. Our exploration of Vietnam begins in the capital city, Hanoi, which rightfully claims its place as a unique capital of Asia. A walk through the old quarter is an unforgettable and exhilarating experience: a labyrinth of chaotic streets where crossing the road is an adventure in itself. In a city where scooters have replaced all other forms of transportation, there’s only one rule: try to survive! ? Along the way, you can indulge in local specialties at every turn.
We continue our journey north to Sapa, located 1,500 meters above sea level. During a two-day trek through rice fields and local villages, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views right by the Chinese border. We’ll be accompanied by lovely local women from the Black Hmong ethnic group, who will share their life stories and a bit of their more intimate adventures, introducing us to their “HAPPY WATER”… an unforgettable experience.
Next, we return to Hanoi to explore its cultural and historical attractions before heading to one of the world’s wonders and one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Halong Bay consists of over 3,000 limestone islands, with hidden beaches, caves, and floating villages that enchant every traveler. In Vietnamese, Halong Bay means “Bay of the Descending Dragon.” Cruising through the bay is a unique experience – even the hordes of tourists can’t diminish the magic of the journey, as our beautiful boat will take us to bays where we will be completely alone. We end our exploration of this unique bay on the largest island, Cat Ba, from where we’ll visit a special little island inhabited by monkeys and check out a fantastic viewpoint.
Our journey continues to Tam Coc, known as “Halong Bay on Land”—you’ll soon understand why. Here, we embark on an unforgettable boat ride along the river, navigating between towering vertical cliffs and through caves, where we’ll need to be especially careful not to bump our heads. Next, we bike through rice fields and climb a small hill for a fairy-tale view. From here, our path, or rather the train, takes us to the most beautiful and authentic town in all of Vietnam—Hoi An. This former important port city now bursts with culture, local artisans, fantastic architecture, and a pleasant travel atmosphere. Here, we will again take to bicycles, the preferred mode of transport in Vietnam, to explore the countryside, feel the local pulse, and try our hand at farming and cooking skills.
Next, we fly south to Can Tho and begin exploring the Mekong Delta. The Mekong River, with its special charm, stretches over 4,350 kilometers and crosses six Asian countries. It is a world of countless river channels, rice fields, tropical fruit, and home to millions of people. For them, the Mekong is a vital source of livelihood. The Mekong Delta is also known for one of the largest floating markets, Cai Rang Market, the biggest floating market in Vietnam and a true experience.
Before we bid farewell to Vietnam, we’ll explore the bustling Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), the economic hub of the country. In the city, we’ll visit the grand covered market, the Reunification Palace, the city cathedral, the beautiful post office, enjoy traditional Vietnamese coffee on the street, and stroll down the famous Bui Vien Street. From Ho Chi Minh, we’ll head to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground city used by the Viet Cong during the war. They dug over 200 km of tunnels, creating an impenetrable obstacle for the Americans.
