Patagonia & Tierra Del Fuego
Our journey through Patagonia begins in the vibrant and lively Buenos Aires. We will visit the famous obelisk and the main square, Plaza del Mayo. We will spend some time in the fascinating neighborhood of San Telmo, known as the largest tango venue. In the evening, there will be time to enjoy a traditional Argentine steak.
Next, we fly to the southernmost tip, Ushuaia, the gateway to Tierra del Fuego. This town at the end of the world boasts an incredible location with numerous glaciers and subpolar forests. We will explore the Tierra del Fuego National Park, hiking around lakes and the foothills of the Andes while admiring the natural beauty. One day will be dedicated to a trip to the Tierra del Fuego Park, where we will visit seals and penguins.
We then head north to Chile. A bus ride through a picturesque landscape takes us across the border to Puerto Natales. This town is the starting point for a 4-day trek in Torres del Paine, one of the most stunning landscapes in the world. We will hike past towering peaks, turquoise lakes, and glaciers. The trek includes all the top highlights (Mirador de las Torres, Valle Frances), covering approximately 60 km or 6-8 hours per day. Optionally, the trek can end with a boat ride on Lake Pehoe.
In the morning, we leave Chile and take a bus back to Argentina. Our first stop is El Calafate, followed by a drive to El Chaltén. El Chaltén is the gateway to treks on the stunning Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre mountains. We start with an easier trek to Laguna Capri (for those who are up to it, continuing to Laguna De Los Tres), which offers a magnificent view of Fitz Roy. This trek takes 4-5 hours. If the weather is good, we are in for some breathtaking views.
Next is another fantastic full-day trek to Laguna Torre, which provides the most beautiful views in the entire park. We will hike all day, with a final view of the Torre and Grande glaciers and the Adela mountain range. The trek is organized to return to El Chaltén, which is the best option in case of bad weather. We then return to El Calafate. If desired, we can take a walk to Laguna Nimez, known for its numerous bird species.
To conclude, we take a full-day excursion to Los Glaciares National Park, where the 30 km long Perito Moreno Glacier reigns supreme—one of the most beautiful glaciers in the world and one of the few that is still growing. Optionally, you can walk on the glacier, adding to the experience of this extraordinary place.
For those interested, an individual extension to the Iguazu Falls can be arranged. Fly from Buenos Aires to the Argentine side of the falls on the first day and visit the falls from the Brazilian side the next day. You can also choose to extend your trip to Bariloche. Fly from El Calafate to the city surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Take a cable car to Sierra Catedral and descend along the ridge to Laguna Tonček. Rent bikes to explore the area around the town and lake, embarking on a full-day adventure while stopping at the magical spots the landscape offers. The trip concludes with a flight back to Buenos Aires and then home.

Where We Stay on the Trip?
Our hotels in Patagonia are vetted and of high quality. We choose accommodations that are beautiful, authentic, friendly, and provide good service. We stay in clean and welcoming hotels (or cabins) or hostels. Accommodations are in double rooms, or in some hostels, four-bed rooms with private showers and toilets. The lodgings range in categories, but are always close to the city center or the starting point for treks. On the trek, you can choose to sleep in a tent or in huts..

The highlight of the trip is undoubtedly the W trek in Torres del Paine, renowned as one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. If the weather is favorable, the experience is unforgettable. You can also extend your journey to Bariloche, the Iguazu Falls, Uruguay (Colonia del Sacramento), or Santiago de Chile.
About the country
Patagonia is a region in the southern part of South America, covering the southern areas of Argentina and Chile. It spans about one million square kilometers, stretching in Argentina from the Rio Colorado in the Lake District to Tierra del Fuego and the Falkland Islands, and in Chile from Puerto Montt to Cape Horn. The Chilean side of Patagonia is geographically distinct from the Argentine side. The Chilean coast is rugged and covered with mighty forests due to its moisture, while the Argentine side features a stark steppe that extends from the sea, interrupted only by turquoise lakes and the sharp, snow-capped peaks behind them. To the north, there are active volcanoes, while further south, the mountains are surrounded by massive glaciers. The land remains relatively unexplored and sparsely populated (2 inhabitants per square kilometer). Patagonia is renowned for its many endemic animal and plant species.
According to Antonio Pigafetta, one of the few survivors of Magellan’s expedition, Magellan named the inhabitants he encountered Patagão or Patagons, and the region Patagonia. Later, it was theorized that this name means “land of the big feet.”
Patagonia is a land for adventurers and explorers, characterized by numerous glaciers, unclimbed peaks, extremes, estancias, and white gold, among other features. Besides its indescribable natural beauty, it is also marked by extraordinarily friendly and vibrant people, pleasant music, and delicious food.
Visa and Vaccinations
Slovenian citizens do not need a visa to enter Chile and Argentina.

Group and Tour Leader
You can check the detailed itinerary by clicking on the route map. The group size ranges from 12 to 20 travelers. Petra will lead the group. The entire trip requires 20-23 days. Before the trip, we have a mandatory meeting with everyone to avoid any issues and ensure everyone is well-informed.
When to travel?
We travel to Patagonia at the beginning of the year, as this period has proven to be optimal for trekking in terms of both timing and weather. Departures organized by Huda Tura are scheduled for January/February.

Payment terms:
Upon registration, a deposit of €100 is required, along with a non-refundable registration fee of €10 per registration. The registration fee is non-refundable. By paying the deposit, you secure your place in the group. The trip is confirmed with a minimum number of registrations. If the number of registrations is insufficient, the trip may be canceled or the cost of organization and guidance may be proportionally increased. For 6-8 registrations, the supplement is €150; for 9-12 registrations, it is €100. The supplement also applies to extensions. If you cancel the trip, cancellation terms as stated in the general conditions will apply.
60 days before the trip or before the invoice is issued, the amount paid can be used for any of our trips within one year. You can read more about the general conditions here. If the trip is canceled due to insufficient registrations, the deposit will be refunded. Before departure, the costs for the flight, escort and preparation of the trip, insurance with assistance, and airport transfers must be settled. All other expenses are paid locally, on-site.

How was the trip overall, what stood out in your memory, and would you change anything in the program? Patagonia is beautiful, with its vast natural landscapes. We were lucky to experience all this in good weather. The Torres del Paine trek could be done more easily in the opposite direction, but it was fine as it was.
Was the guidance and organization satisfactory, or could anything be improved? Was Peter a good guide? Everything was fine. Peter is an experienced alpinist and not a talker – he had everything under control and worked hard to ensure everything went smoothly. I must say he was fortunate to have a group of experienced travelers who didn’t stress him out. 🙂
How much money did you roughly spend in Patagonia? Approximately €3000 (around €300 for personal expenses), in line with expectations, though we were all (negatively) surprised by the high prices in Argentina.
Where would you like to travel next? Tibet (around Kailash), perhaps Iceland in the summer (is it still available?), Canada, Alaska…
Why did you choose this trip, and would you recommend it to others? Patagonia had been on my list for some time. The program was great, as was the guide and the group. I already recommend and advertise it!

Patagonia was excellent, and we are very satisfied with the trip. All the places we visited, treks, and excursions were interesting and often breathtaking. The view of the penguins in Tierra del Fuego, Mount Fitz Roy, Laguna De los Tres with views of Cerro Torre and Torres del Paine, and the visit to Perito Moreno Glacier were particularly special.
Most people felt that the W trek in Chile needed an additional 2 days. One day because we completed two treks in one day and another to visit Grey Lake. In Buenos Aires, two afternoons are sufficient for Argentine steak, visiting Boca, and more.
Everything was perfect; Peter was an excellent guide – quiet, reliable, and respectful. We would be happy to travel with him again – and so would the others. I carried $1000, spent an additional €100, and withdrew 1000 pesos in Argentina.
I suggested to our group to consider treks and sights in Canada, and parks in North America would also be interesting. In 2-3 years, Chile with Bolivia…
I had long planned to visit Patagonia and will gladly recommend it to others. I’m finding that this destination attracts a lot of people – acquaintances included.

How was the trip overall, what stood out in your memory, and would you change anything in the program? The trip was very enjoyable, especially due to the natural beauty. It was one of the most beautiful trips, and the weather was perfect. The treks were the highlight of the journey.
Was the guidance and organization satisfactory, or could anything be improved? Was Peter a good guide? The organization was commendable, with no issues. Peter did an excellent job, providing advance warnings about challenges and regular updates for the following day. The group was cohesive and shared similar goals. I would add an extra day on the trek (at least one day in Torres), and I would expand the program to include Iguazu or Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay) or even Mendoza (a beautiful route through the Andes to Santiago).
How much money did you roughly spend in Patagonia? The expenses were as anticipated, but Patagonia is noticeably more expensive compared to other parts of Argentina and Chile.
Where would you like to travel next? Starting with the letter A… Australia, Alaska, Angola… and then with B… I’d rather not list more as it might get boring… I love traveling!
Why did you choose this trip, and would you recommend it to others? I wanted to see Patagonia, and the solo option was too expensive. I would recommend this trip to anyone and hope they have weather as wonderful as ours. It was a fantastic journey.

1. Kako se ti je zdelo potovanje nasploh, kaj ti je ostalo v najlepšem spominu in/ali bi kaj v programu spremenili?
Zelo lepo po naravnih lepotah sploh eno najlepših potovanj, vreme nam je služilo (je nekdo plačal za mašo) in trekingi so bili najlepši del potovanja…
2. Je bilo vodenje in organizacija v redu ali bi kaj lahko dodali? A je bil Peter v redu vodnik?
Organizacija pohvalno, brez problemov, pohvale za Petra se je super držal, nas je vnaprej opozoril na težave in redno podajal informacije za drug dan. Zelo homogena skupina, smo imeli iste cilje. Dodal bi kakšen dan na trekingu več (obvezno vsaj 1 v Torres-ih), bi pa razširil program z ali Iguazu ali Colonia del S.(Urugvaj, samo čez reko v Buenosu..) ali celo kot sem šel jaz (Mendoza – po cesti do Los cuevos mimo Aconcague- zelo lepa cesta čez Ande do Santiaga)
3. Koliko denarja si cca porabil/a v Patagoniji? Poraba po kot je bilo predvidno po programu, je pa Patagonija občutno dražja kot ostali deli Arg+Čile.
4. Kam bi v prihodnje najraje potoval/-a?
Če začnem s črko A….Avstralija, Aljaska, Angola….potem z B…..raje ne naštevam več ker bi postal dolgočasen….rad potujem pač….
5. Zakaj si se odločil/a za to potovanje in ali bi to potovanje priporočal/-a še komu?
Ker sem hotel videti Patagonijo in je solo verzija bila predraga….. potovanje bi priporočil vsakemu in mu hkrati zaželel podobno vreme kot smo ga imeli mi….čudovito potovanje.

Gregor živijo!
Patagonija je odlično uspela in sva s potovanjem zelo zadovoljna. Vsi kraji, ki smo jih obiskali, treki in izleti so bili zanimivi in so ne malokrat jemali sapo od lepega. Vsekakor pa je nekaj posebnega pogled na pingvine v parku Ognjena zemlja, pogled na goro Fiz roy, laguna De los tres s pogledom na Cerro Torre in Torres del Paine, pa obisk ledenika Perito Moreno.
Po mnenju večine je potrebno na W treku v Čilu dodati 2 dni. Enega ker smo dva treka opravili v enem dnevu, drugega pa za obisk jezera Grey; v Buenos Aires je dovolj dva popoldneva, za argentiski zrezek, za ogled Boke in še kaj.
Vse je klapalo 100 %, Peter je odličen vodnik – tih, ziheraš, preudaren …in spoštovanja vreden. Z veseljem bi šel še kdaj z njim – ostali tudi.
S seboj sem imel 1000 dolarjev, porabil še 100 €, dvignil pa 1000 pesov v Argentini.
Predlagal sem naši skupini trek in oglede v Kanadi, tudi parki severne Amerike bi bili zanimivi. Čez 2-3 leta pa Čile z Bolivijo…
Obisk Patagonije sem že dalj časa načrtoval, z veseljem ga bom še komu priporočil. Ugotavljam-o da ta konec mika precej več ljudi-znancev.
Ekipi Char se zahvaljujeva za odlično organizacijo, Petru pa še enkrat za vodenje.

1. Kako se ti je zdelo potovanje nasploh, kaj ti je ostalo v najlepšem spominu in/ali bi kaj v programu spremenili?
Patagonija je čudovita, narava, razsežnosti – res smo imeli srečo, da smo vse to doživeli v lepem vremenu. Torres del Paine trek bi lažje izvedli v obratni smeri – ni bilo nič narobe tudi tako.
2. Je bilo vodenje in organizacija v redu ali bi kaj lahko dodali? A je bil Peter v redu vodnik?
Vse ok. Percu se pozna, da je alpinist in ni nakladač – imel je vse pod kontrolo in se je trudil, da je vse potekalo ok. Lahko rečem, da je imel res srečo, ker je imel v grupi same izkušene popotnike, ki mu nis(m)o kravžljali živcev 🙂
3. Koliko denarja si cca porabil/a v Patagoniji?
cca 3000 EUR (cca 300 za lastne potrebe), v skladu s pričakovanji, čeprav smo bili vsi (negativno) presenečeni nad res visokimi cenami v Argentini 🙁
4. Kam bi v prihodnje najraje potoval/-a? Tibet (okoli Kailaša), morda poleti Islandija (je še prosta?), Kanada, Aljaska …

Patagonija je bila že nekaj časa na seznamu; program je bil super, prav tako vodič, skupina … ŽE PRIPOROČAM IN DELAM REKLAMO! 🙂

2. Je bilo vodenje in organizacija v redu ali bi kaj lahko dodali? A je bil Peter v redu vodnik? Peter je vodnik, s katerim bi potoval kamor koli.
3. Koliko denarja si cca porabil/a v Patagoniji? Vse skupaj cca 3.200 € po osebi.
4. Zakaj si se odločil/a za to potovanje in ali bi to potovanje priporočal/-a še komu? Z ženo sva se odločila na povabilo prijateljev in zaradi čudovite narave, ki je bila predstavljena v programu. Celo potovanje sem predelal pred odhodom na internetu in pričakovanja so se v celoti izpolnila. Potovanje bom prikazal na predavanju na občnem zboru PD Kočevje, samo potovanje pa sem že pred odhodom predstavil nekaterim prijateljem in znancem.
